How the offset works
The offset is the distance from the end of the door to the center of the hinge cup.
- The top and bottom hinge use the same offset. The standard offset is 3 inches.
- On a 3 hinge door, the middle hinge sits centered between the top and bottom hinge.
- On a 4 hinge door, the two middle hinges sit at one third and two thirds of the way between the top and bottom offset.
- Every hinge uses our standard boring pattern, which includes an 8mm dowel hole.
The standard offset is 3 inches. It can run as little as 2.5 inches or as much as 10 inches when a door needs it.
How many hinges your door needs
The number of hinges depends on door height. Taller doors need more hinges to stay flat and hang straight. Qwikkit doors run 7.5 to 63 inches tall and 5 to 36 inches wide, and every door ships with the right hinge count already set.
